Preventative Care / New Patient Exams
During new or recall examination appointments, we will assess the health of your teeth, gums, temporal mandibular joint and lymph nodes, check for occlusions and the health of the soft tissue, and check the alignment of your jaw. If your assessment shows no disease, we will customize a care program that aims to maintain excellent oral health. Request an AppointmentPreventative care is the foundation of dentistry, beginning at home with good oral hygiene and a balanced diet. In our office, we continuously monitor your dental health in order to catch any potential problems early. During your preventative visits, you can expect us to examine for any visible tooth or gum problems, as well as answer your questions. If you have not seen us or another dentist in a long time, x-rays will be required to have a more comprehensive view of your teeth. Ask us about the latest technology that is currently being offered in our office! We are happy to discuss any recommendations we have for you. Finally, your teeth will be cleaned and polished by a professional hygienist who will remove the hardened plaque and bacteria with special instruments and may provide further recommendations on keeping up with good habits.
Did you know…
…that the American Dental Association (ADA) does not prefer any specific brush? It does, however, acknowledge that people with an upper-body mobility restriction may benefit from an electric toothbrush instead of a manual brush. Regardless of which type you decide is right for you, the ADA recommends that all brushes be soft-bristled so as to avoid abrasion that can lead to decay and a receding gum line.
